About

Founded in 1914 by a group of eight women who wanted to form a women’s club, the Litchfield Women’s Forum of Litchfield, CT, is still in existence and thriving.

The original intent of the founders was to bring together women for “an interchange of thoughts on subjects of general interest.” In the beginning, these gatherings were held in women’s homes and the women themselves researched the topic and presented the program followed by a tea.

As time went on, guests were invited to speak on a wide variety of topics. Well known presenters have included Eleanor Roosevelt, Katherine Ann Porter, Igor Sikorsky, Paul Winter, Elizabeth Gilbert and many, many more.  From the initial meeting of 15 women, the organization now has a membership of over 140 women and men and continues to bring educational, thought-provoking, and entertaining programs to the community.

Women’s Forum of Litchfield meets monthly from October to May at the Litchfield Community Center, 421 Bantam Road (Route 202), Litchfield, CT. (Click here for a map to the Community Center)
