The Women’s Forum of Litchfield, which regularly offers diverse and fascinating speakers at the Litchfield Community Center, is presenting a special holiday concert at St. Michael’s Parish on Thursday, December 4, beginning at 2:30pm.
New England Conservatory senior and Bristol native Corey Gaudreau will sing classical and popular favorites for baritone voice, accompanied by Oksana Protenic of Bantam on piano. Corey began his musical studies by taking piano lessons as a child, then singing in the church choir. He was hired as a cantor and began singing regularly as a soloist. He studied with voice coach Laura Mashburn of Litchfield for three years when she encouraged him to audition for the Ensign-Darling Vocal Fellowship at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. He was accepted and was a Fellow for two years.
Corey also has coachings with Oksana Protenic, continued piano lessons with Jean Degan, and studied acting with Julia Kiley. He auditioned and was accepted as professional chorister in the St. Joseph Cathedral Schola Cantorum in Hartford. He began studying at New England Conservatory under Michael Meraw and was accepted into the Undergraduate Opera Studio, where he perfected acting and movement techniques and performed a number of roles in opera scenes programs.
The concert will be open to non-Forum members with a $10 fee at the door, which includes a reception following the concert. St. Michael’s Parish is located at 25 South Street (Route 63-S), just off the Litchfield Green. The number to call for more information is 860.605.7027.
