Mother Dolores Hart, O.S.B.

In 1963, Dolores Hart made the choice to enter the cloistered Abby of Regina Laudis Bethlehem CT., leaving behind a successful acting career. At the time she left her successful acting career to join the cloistered order, she had been nominated for a Tony award for her performance on Broadway in the Pleasure of His Company. She had also starred in 10 films with notable actors, one of whom was Elvis Presley.

Theater is still a presence in her life. In 1986, in collaboration with her dear late friend, Academy award winner Patricia Neal, The Gray – The Olivia Theater was founded. Since 2001 she has been a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In 2012, the HBO documentary film God is the Bigger Elvis, was nominated for an Academy award in the documentary short subject category .

Her acclaimed autobiography The Ear of the Heart: An Actress’ Journey from Hollywood to Holy Vows was released in 2013.

The Ear of the Heart: An Actress’ Journey from Hollywood to Holy Vows and the DVD God is the Bigger Elvis will be on sale for $25.00 each at the October 2 meeting of Women’s Forum.
